A Florida family is caught in the crossfire of CBD confusion as ignorance runs unrestrained once again. After Tiffany Young and her son spent years dealing the side effects of stimulant based ADD/ADHD medications like Ritalin and Concerta, the mother decided to give non-psychoactive, hemp based CBD a try.
The 15-year-old young man, diagnosed with ADD/ADHD/ODD, PTSD and dysgraphia was a bright and well-behaved boy who had never gotten into any major trouble in or out of school. Now they’re facing the beginning of a pricey nightmare that could cause the big dreams Tiffany and her son had for his future after he was “anonymously informed on.” Someone told the administrator’s he had a marijuana product.
The charter school’s administration searched his bags and found the dropper of CBD oil. The juvenile was charged with possession of THC oil, a felony in Florida. The issue though, was that the CBD oil they had was hemp based, 50 state legal, non-psychoactive and had THC percentage below the amount legally allowable. The outdated field tests that were used to run the test on the bottle, however, were out of date and could not measure whether the trace amounts of THC were at or below the legal amount.
On April 20th of this year, Forbes posted an article by Janet Burns about Montel Williams’ long and very personal effort to produce a line of medical grade CBD Oil. Montel has long been an advocate of cannabis. Williams is a United States Veteran of both the Marine Corps and the Navy with 15 years of service, and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999.
Montel Williams is also a celebrity, but that should not overshadow the good he is doing. Unfortunately, scammers tried to capitalize on that. “Free Trial” offers of CBD were promoted using the article and Williams face and name. This past Friday charges were filed with the U.S. District Court in Miami on behalf of Williams and Montel Williams Enterprises, Inc., the complaint alleges that at least three companies linked to Timothy K. Isaac of Scottsdale, Arizona have intentionally and “blatantly” been using Williams’ reputation as a celebrity and CBD proponent to sell “purported CBD oils” through numerous websites as part of multiple “unscrupulous businesses [and] online scams that are deceiving customers.”
Defendants including Advanceable Technology, LLC, Beauty Strong, LLC (formerly Hathor Secrets and Secrets of Isis, LLCs), Snowflake Marketing, LLC, and Isaac, to whom the companies are seemingly registered, have been “knowingly and willfully capitalizing on Plaintiffs’ valuable reputation and intellectual property to lure consumers into ordering their Infringing Products on the false premise that they have been tested, created, or recommended by Williams” despite repeated requests to cease and desist.
Through a range of news article and blogs across various websites including posts designed to mimic the Forbes piece, the responsible parties used written content and selected photos of Williams to promote subscriptions for a long list of products said to contain high quality CBD. The brand also made claims purporting endorsement from Bill Gates, Dr. Dre, Whoopi Goldberg, Morgan Freeman, Lady Gaga, and others were also used.
Former NFL defensive end Marvin Washington is a Super Bowl Champion and spent a decade in the league from 1989 to 1999 with the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. Washington has become an advocate of CBD as an alternative to opioids, a problem disproportionately affecting athletes.Washington says “most ailments and illnesses come from having some sort of inflammation in the body,” he argues “CBD can do the same thing as opiates, acting as an anti-inflammatory.”
When asked about the recent ruling by the World Anti-Doping Agency removal of CBD from its list of banned substances, Washington told Benzinga “This was a huge announcement by WADA. WADA has ruled that CBD is not a performance-enhancing substance. I know that, eventually, sports leagues in America will reach the same conclusion. The first, biggest thing we need to do is get the federal prohibition off cannabis.”
Yes, you read that right. CBD Beer is coming. Organic family farm, Luce Farm, has officially partnered with Long Trail Brewing Company. For the past decade, Rebecca and Joe Pimentel have cultivated the land of Luce Farm. Located in Stockbridge, Vermont, the farm was founded in 1820 and grows organic herbs, produce and raises farm animals. In 2016, the Pimentel’s decided to add another crop to their roster. Hemp.
Earlier this year they began making and selling CBD-infused honey, bolstered by a Vermont-based apiary. The brewery originally partnered with the farm to get CBD Honey on their cheese plates and the shelves of the gift shop, but three days later when the idea came up for CBD Beer they were sold. The first beer, a Honey-Ginger CBD IPA, was a tremendous hit.

An Israeli-British cannabis biotech start-up recently announced that it will fund a research project in collaboration with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem exploring methods for treating asthma with medical cannabis. This is a development that could spark Israel’s latest groundbreaking achievement within the CBD sector.
Israel may become a country where medical cannabis research truly takes off. It currently is growing at an accelerated pace as the only country with legal, approved and cannabis-friendly R&D centers in the world. The research project focuses on researching the effects of the non-psychoactive cannabis compound CBD and identifying its potential inhibitory impact on allergic airway inflammation that causes asthma attacks. According to CIITECH’s leadership, the study is expected to yield results within six months. Because of CBD’s proven anti-inflammatory properties, researchers hope that cannabis-based asthma medicines can serve as an alternative to traditional respiratory treatment methods, which predominantly involve the use of inhaled steroids in metered doses.

Since argan-based hair care products hit the beauty market a decade ago, consumers have been obsessed with the notion that moisturizing oils are essential for beauty care. Argan might have been this movement’s early rock star, but oils continue to be a beauty market craze, appearing in everything from your shampoo to your facial cleanser.
In the beauty industry’s earliest experiments with CBD, a number of early adopters have confirmed the oil’s incredible moisturizing and skin soothing properties, due to its high levels of essential fatty acids. And for hair, they’re touting its ability to soften and thicken the follicles.
But many major beauty retailers in the U.S. are still hesitant to stock anything containing CBD.
